This works even better once you get the Lure item in the second island. Position Ganki on the left slot and Nessla on the right, then spam Chain Lightning on water Temtem for easy kills. Nessla is recommended after you get the surfboard because having Electric Synthesize Nessla + Ganki allows the use of Chain Lightning to heal Nessla indefinitely, allowing for quick leveling in water bodies. (If it's Barnshe, a DC Beam usually will kill, but it may not be enough for others not doubly weak to Electric) This is because Skunch is 4x weak to Mental (and Smazee 2x), you will not have something that resists Mental at this point (unless you picked Crystle or received a Crystal Tem from trading) and sometimes Ganki alone cannot cover for Mental types. If you have Smazee then you might consider swapping Skunch with something else that provides a different type coverage once you get into the second island. People usually recommend Saku because they provide excellent type coverage with their techniques and tank hits really well (even super effective ones). As you progress, you will have to choose between the fast Loali or the tanky Saku. In the early game, Saku and Loali function similarly. Umishi or Kalazu (or any water type you like) Ganki (Gankis are a universal recommendation because they provide precious Electric typing) Skail / Skunch (I personally always evolve my Skail before challenging the first Dojo Master) Tuwai (you can keep it or swap it for another Tem, but Tuwai will probably be a higher level than other captured Tems) Once you have access to more Tems (after beating the first Dojo) you can start swapping out the duplicates.Ī sample Deniz team before the first Dojo will look like this: At this time, just use what Temtem you have.

Duplicate types are inevitable in the early game (eg. When starting out in Deniz make sure you start filling in your squad and getting them leveled up because unlike in Pokemon, the important battles in Temtem will pit you against at least 4 enemy Temtem. There isn't any single best team for everyone the best team is the team that covers each of its members' weaknesses as much as possible, able to counter any type your opponent might throw at you, and consists of Temtem you like using.
